Bay Shore Educator Wins SCOPE Award

On March 19th, Bay Shore teacher Walter Fishon was awarded the SCOPE award at Villa Lombardi's. Below is a bio that was included in the award ceremony.

Walter Fishon, an 18-year veteran at Bay Shore High School, is best known as an English and Journalism teachers with an enthusiasm for learning and a passion for teaching. Mr. Fishon has invested countless hours designing and enhancing curricula, including a New York State- recognized Humanities course. Additionally, Mr. Fishon, or "Fish" (as he is affectionately referred to by his students), revitalized the school's newspaper, Maroon Echo, leading it to receive a multitude of awards and accolades. Mr. Fishon continuously challenges his students and himself to excel and is currently readying his journalists to unveil their newest venture, BSHS news, a televised news station. He is also an adjunct professor at SUNY Stony Brook mentoring student teachers in preparation for the teaching career that Mr. Fishon is so dedicated to.
