Thursday, March 31, 2016
Dear BSCTA member,
As the 2016 school year moves along, we, as educators, continue to face an atmosphere of uncertainty as to what the future holds. Governor Cuomo’s public education agenda continues to be front-and-center on the minds of parents and guardians. Many find his education proposals draconian and extreme. One only needs to read the newspaper or visit on-line social media to see all the grassroots efforts by parents and guardians. Because of the potential impact of Cuomo’s proposals, educational forums have been taking place across the state.
On Thursday, March 31, 2016, commencing at 6:30pm, an educational forum will be proudly held at the Bay Shore-Brightwaters Public Library on Main Street. Titled “Education at the Crossroads,” this forum will offer all of us a chance to engage in meaningful dialogue with our friends and neighbors about issues that are paramount to what matters most: our children's education.
We invite the membership to join us as concerned parents and guardians, caring educators, and involved citizens of the school community. Furthermore, feel free to being a neighbor or two if you live in the local area. Together, we are the stakeholders for public education. On the reverse of this letter, please see the flyer that includes the names of the panel presenters along with the forum’s itinerary for that evening.
We are nearing the tipping point. Together, we can all make a difference and do what is right for the students of Bay Shore and New York State.
Michael S. Krieger (BSCTA 1st Vice President)
