It feels like a million years ago, but it was only about 8 months ago, when NYSUT began our NYSUT Counts campaign to promote the importance of the 2020 Census and encourage our members and allies to complete the Census.
The COVID pandemic has understandably redirected our focus and efforts, but I was surprised when someone told me yesterday that we only have a few days left to increase our Census count on Long Island, to ensure we have as bright a future as possible for the next ten years!
Our 2010 count resulted in lost representation and ten years of lost funding. Let's not allow that to happen this time. Now more than ever New York must receive what it deserves both in terms of funding and our voice and representation.
If you have not done so already, please fill out your Census form by using the link below.
It takes just ten minutes to complete the Census, but it impacts the next ten years. The simple and quick gesture of completing the Census can help to ensure that our families and the institutions we value have the resources that they are not only entitled to, but in all too many instances, desperately need, now more than ever. This is your last chance to be counted, so please fill out your Census form today.
