Time to take action on ESSA

John King and the USDOE have written regulations to carry out ESSA.  As we suspected he is attempting to use the USDOE to overstep their authority onto the states. We need to send in recommendations to the USDOE before August 1st, we need to tell our federal lawmakers to tell John King to back off, and we need to create ESSA implementation teams in our schools.   We are asking you to do three important things.  We are over 80,000 strong in our network – the REFORMERS have money but we have numbers.  Raise your voice and complete these  three steps today!
1.  Send in the BAT Recommendations to the USDOE on ESSA Accountability. Input from the public is DUE AUGUST 1st!    Go here for more instructions
2. Send your letter in TODAY to demand your federal  lawmaker put pressure on Sec. King to delete proposed regulation  §200.15, which seeks to punish students who opt out of toxic testing.
3.  Inquire today about ESSA teams at the state level and get on them.  Also, start an ESSA implementation team in your local district.  Go here for  more information on how to do that

Thank you for taking action and making a difference
In solidarity,
Marla Kilfoyle, Executive Director BATs
Melissa Tomlinson, Asst. Executive Director BATs
