Strong Support for our Students and Schools

As the year winds down, we would like to keep you up to date with some important events.   First of all, thank you to everyone for the overwhelming support of our recently ratified contract.   Although the hard part is over, please understand that we will continue to fight for you on a daily basis to make sure all of your concerns are addressed.

Yesterday, our community came out to support our schools with 76% of voters voting for the school budget.  I would also like to congratulate Lou Bettinelli and Guy Leggio on their victories last night in the school board elections.  We look forward to working with them on the issues that matter most to our union, our schools, and our teachers.

Now that the school board elections are over, it is time to support our fellow teachers.  One of them, Christine Pellegrino, is running in a special election for State Assembly.  The district includes Brightwaters, West Islip, Seaford, Amityville, West Babylon, and Babylon. Some of you may know Christine as a leader in the Opt Out movement or as a loyal union teacher from Baldwin.  Christine needs all of her fellow teachers help, which is why the BSCTA will be holding a labor walk for her this Saturday.
